I thought I’d post some of what I’m listening to for inspiration for the recording session next week. I’m mostly obsessing over guitar sounds, hoping to get the thickest, most rocking tone out of my newly acquired Carvin X100B Head.

So let’s get to it!

I love J.E.W! as far as I’m concerned, Clarity and Bleed American are some of the best rock albums of all time!

Bleed American in particular as some very nice, thick guitar tones that I’ve been trying to recreate for years!

You can say what you want about Nickelback, but they have amazing production on their albums and some kick-ass guitars!

From American punk rock and Canadian rock to Norwegian classic rock! The guitar sound on this album and the 2 albums before it is pretty much the perfect heavy guitar sound if you ask me!

This is one of my newest discoveries. After watching a load of Youtuber Rob Chapman and Anderton’s gear reviews, i came across Rob’s band Dorje. I love their sound, they have this nice blend of groovy riffs and heavy breakdowns, without the über-heavy vocals and blastbeats. I’m also loving the 40-min “making of” video from the recording of their new EP,

Hench as …..!

One thing they did, which i haven’t really experimented with, is to double or triple-track guitars, as in layering 2-3 different tones for each rhythm guitar. Now, this is nothing new, i know, but i was really inspired by the way they did it!

So, that’s what I’m using to, hopefully, stoke the flames of creativity and productivity into a massive inferno of goodness!

Finnstun out!!
